Default remote pc address only numeric?

Hi, first time user of Gbridge and been very happy with it so far. I do have a small problem,
my remote home pc is reffered to from work only as \\XX.XXX.XX.109\FRODOf for the remote drive F: instead of \\FRODO\\FRODOf.

Also the \\FRODO home pc does not appear in "My Network Places".

Work PC has workgroup MSHOME set up, home PC I think it doesn't. (I will check that later). Both machines are XP PRO SP2. (but I plan to use a new laptop with 7 ultimate)

So It is really really (!) useful to have a non numeric address for my home PC \\FRODO so as to have a fixed way to refer to it without the numeric address will change for non static IP? (as is the case for both home and work ISPs)

Thanx in advance
Elena

PS LAST but not least, having same username and passwrd in both places, and same Gmail logon, Gbridge/enabled file sharing does not ask for any password. That's OK security wise?

Default

OK this was realy basic question, but as gbridge is so easy to use even for a newbi, so there it goes for anyone having the same problem, In explorer or any other program the
//hostname.username.gbridge.net/
gives a static reference of all folder shares remote or local... Which is excelent.

I used synctoy that way and the native gbridge autosync for two way sync, but am
scratching a bit my head still. I had Good connectivity at one end and excellent at work. Also I had only direct connections, but speed was really 2-3KB/sec and the bottleneck at home (ADSL) is something like 150KB/sec... for the upload speed. Ocasionaly I got better bursts with speeds like 100KB/sec I synced two large folders in 3hours about 100MB new files transered ok. It still beats portable media transfers but i wonder why so slow?...

My main question is:
Enabling sharing is considered a non secure way to network? Why is it disabled by default?

Something about hostname.username.gbridge.net was mentioned in the FAQ, but about DNS...
