some programs will not run with remote desktop

I can successfully connect from my laptop to my desktop computer. Some programs will run from the laptop, such as Word and Outlook. However, Peachtree Accounting will not start remotely.
Do I need to make other setting changes to get this (and as yet undiscovered) program to run remotely?
