Default Firewall Problems

I am a new user trying to set up desktopshare for the first time. The desktopshare self test fails. When I disable my firewall (CA Internet Security Suite) the self test is successful. So clearly the problem is with the firewall. I have checked that both Gbridge.exe and gbwinvnc.exe are listed as allowed executables in my Internet Security Suite. They are both marked "Allow" for outbound traffic and "Ask Me" for incoming traffic.

When I run the self test no window pops up asking to allow access. I read in the GB Help section that it may be necessary to add an exception to

"Allow desktop share server listening on port 5905."

I'm open to any suggestions. If the problem is to enter the exception to allow access on Port 5905, con someone give me more details on exactly what setting will need to be used?

It seems I answered my own question. As soon as a wrote my inquiry here I thought to try modifying the settings in my CA Internet Security Suite to allow inbound as well as outbound access to GBridge.exe and VNC and that did the trick. The other computer I'm wanting to access remotely also has CA Internet Security Suite on it, so I did the same thing there and I have successfully controlled each computer from the other.

What it fixes...

* Windows Firewall is not the default firewall
* Windows Firewall does not start
* Windows Vista could not start Windows Firewall. Service-specific error 5 (0x5)
* Remote Assistance does not work
* You cannot access shared files and printers

Try to install gbridge.exe in trusted zone and try to run the program, the firewall support more than Norton. So ma y be it works.

Default Window Firewall

My Opinion is same.

Windows Firewall does not start
1 Windows Vista could not start Windows Firewall. Service-specific error 5 (0x5)
2 Remote Assistance does not work
3 You cannot access shared files and printers
