Default Gbridge 2.0.0.1314 is adding a period to the end of AutoSync Destination Folder name

The latest software has changed all of my existing Autosync destination folder names by adding a period at the end. Windows XP does not like folders to end with a period. They effectively become unreadable via Windows Explorer.

Additionally these new syncs do not recognize previously copied files and copy everything each time.

All new Autosyncs also add the period.

Are others seeing this problem? I am seeing it on all four of my PCs since upgrading a few days ago.

Any advice or hope of a patch is appreciated in advance.

Thanks!

Sorry for the inconvenience. What is your windows version? can you provide more detail about the name change? If possible, can you post a screenshot that shows the destination folder names that has period in the end?

Sure! Thanks for asking. Windows XP.

Ok... I typed the following because I couldn't figure out how to attach documents. Then as I went to post I realized that was only because I'd been logged out and wasn't looking at the richtext option I see when logged in. ;-(

I tried to be thorough, but if the following isn't helpful enough I'll happily send attachments.

Here is what I see on several common screens.

Under the "Autosync" tab, the "The Local Directory" column reads as follows:
H:\Gbridge-backup\Documents @ officeDesktop.userid.
U:\Gbridge-backup\CompletedProcessDocuments @ laptop.userid.

Under the "Description" column in the same "AutoSync" tab is the following:
Documents @ officeDesktop.userid.
CompletedProcessDocuments @ laptop.userid.

This is probably obvious, but when I Edit "AutoSync" I also see the period at the end of the name in the "AutoSync To" field, but cannot change it. It is also at the end of the "Description" here as well, but here it can be changed (not that this has any material effect on the problem of course).

Also, as soon as any of my existing AutoSyncs were executed following the upgrade, duplicate directories (with the addition of the period) were added in addition to all of my existing AutoSyncs. I say this only to point out that it is a problem with both existing and newly created AutoSyncs. It's a chore to examine these new directories and their contents, the period at the end messes with Windows Explorer recognition of the folder and contents so all examination must be done via DOS commands (at least as far as I've found).

I see this behavior on all of my PCs which now have the latest 2.0.0.1314 software. I'm not new to Gbridge, I've been using it without any major issues for over a year.

Please let me know if I can provide any additional or more useful detail. Thanks again for responding to my question.

Thanks a lot for your detail description! We have identified the problem. Please try this:

http://www.gbridge.com/check_version/gbridge-2.0.0.1319-winxp-test-setup.exe

Start all syncs and the folder that end with "." will be renamed.

It is a bug caused by a NTFS glitch, which is exposed by recendly added long file name support.

Default Thank you.

This appears to have resolved the problem. It actually created a new directory without the period, which is fine. I simply needed to go into DOS and manually delete the directory containing a period, and it's contents, and all is back to working order.

Thanks for resolving this minor issue so quickly! Great work! Great product!

I have used EasyBackup and have the files on my external drive, I now want to delete those files and am unable to.

There is a bug in 2.0.0.1314. Please install the following version and manually start sync once.
