Hi all,
I have a few questions. I'll try to be brief, although I tend to talk a lot.
A friend and I installed gbridge on our respective computers to share music back and forth. I can download from his computer but he cannot access my secure shares that I have set up. I am running win7 enterprise 64 bit. The following are my concerns
oh, first for whatever it's worth just so you know, I'm totally blind and use a screen reader to navigate the web and all. so I did read the nube user guides but obviously the screen shots didn't help me at all. Alright moving along then,
1. I am on a university campus network, hardwired into their ethernet. I have the ability to be on a wireless but I've not had much luck with it for some unknown reason. As a result, I cannot forward ports. Typing my ip address into my web browser doesn't do anything. and I don't blame the ITS folks, you let people forward ports and god knows what will come through.
2. I have udp enabled in the advanced options and the detect udp/tcp set to auto.
3. When I look at my taskbar I see that it says, "network internet access, network 3 no internet access." I've never had a netowkr 3 name after my ethernet network, so I assume it's the gbridge vpn adapter. Upon going into network and sharing center, I do see the Gbridge name, it has an ip associated with it, it is currently set as a work network, but I wasn't sure really what "location" I wanted. But nowhere do I see a "network 3," not even in device manager, where the vpn adapter is btw.
4. Windows firewall is off and MS Security essentials is accepting gbridge.
5. My ipconfig shows the vpn adapter and the ip address I saw in network center. Yet, it still says, "network 3 no internet access."
so, I'm wondering what I should do. I can easily browse my friend's files, but he gets the "page cannot be found" or some such message in firefox when he tries my share. He can see my name and the names of my shares, but not access them.
I'm sure this is all stuff you've encountered before, any help at all would be greatly appreciated. I do have error0 and error1 logs that contain one line of data each if you want me to send them. Oh, and I have "good" network connectivity, so it does have me connected to gmail's servers.
Thanks in advanced, apologies for the length of this message but I wanted to be absolutely clear about how things are set up here.
Dave
