So the first problem that I am having is with secureshare. So I am running a server with win2k3 sbs and it has gbridge on it. I created a new account to use for the server. I had it up and sharing a folder this morning and the sync worked great from my laptop. I was able to download a file. I then was trying to get the desktop share to work. I saw that you don't need 2 accounts to share your own computers, so I tried logging in with the same username on the server and on my laptop. I was never able to get the windows share to work through the same username on both the server and my laptop. Then when I went back to login with the second username I had created on the server, I can not longer access the shared folder. It gives me a 403 error and says I do not have access to the folder.
Thanks

thanks for using Gbridge, and more importantly, report two problems!
=======================
for the first problem (cannot access windows share folder), please do the following checks (i assume you want to access a windows shared folder on your w2k server from the laptop):
* you need to turn on windows-share-folder support in Gbridge on your w2k, (for security reason, by default it is off). To tunr it on:
= click option icon on the taskbar, select "advanced options".
= in the dialog, check the checkbox "windows share folder" in "open to my other computer" group area.
= click "apply and restart gbridge"
* you need to turn on windows-share-folder function in window system on your w2k server. There are many articles on the internet on that topic.
* to access the share-folder on your w2k server from your laptop, log in gbridge use the same username on your laptop, then click the icon of your w2k server, and select the meun
"explorer windows share folders". A login diag will pop up, input the windows (NOT gbridge!) username and password of the your w2k, and click ok. If it still doesn't work, please tell me exactly what error do you see.
=======================
for the second issue, if I understant correctly,
1. you create a SecureShare A on your w2k server while login as user-1.
2. you cannot access the Secureshare A from your w2k server while you loing as user-2 on the same w2k server. (basically locall access with a different username)
One important thing about gbridge is that the Secureshare is accessable only when the gbridge on the source computer is running under the secureshare creator's account. For security reason, when the creator logout and login as a different account, the Secureshares created under his/her account are not accessable.
You can try to log in as user-1 again on your w2k machine to see whether you can access the Secureshare created eariler by user-1. If you still have problem, please let us know.
Good luck!

Thanks for your help. When I got home, (I was using vnc to access and it was a little slow so I couldn't get much done) I figured out that somehow there were two gbridge applications running, I'm not sure how. I closed them both and reopened one and that seemed to get it working again. The only other problem I am having is using the sharedesktop through the same user name. So signed in with user-1 on both computers and not seeing any option to view my own desktop. I was able to get it work with user-1 on the server and user-2 on my laptop. I RDP in and sent the invitation from the server to the laptop and then did the desktop share from there. I can't get it though with the same user name on both computers. I don't see any option to do it. The only thing I see is the test desktop share.
Thanks

------ if you were trying to use the gbridge internal desktopshare (aka vnc)
For security reason, you need to enable it on the machine you want to remote-control. To do that:
- on the machine you want to control, click the DesktopShare icon on the toolbar, and select "Configure Gbridge desktopshare".
- In the "DesktopShare (VNC) Configure" dialog, check the checkbox "Allow access after verify DesktopShare password".
- In the same dialog, setup a password in "Desktopsahre Password for this computer", if you forget to do that, gbridge will prompt you when you close the diag. Then click "ok"
- The gbridge will selftest the DesktopShare. If you see a stack of mirrored windows, that means the selftest passes. If you don't, likely your firewall is blocking the DesktopShare server from accepting request, you need to check your firewall setting and allow listening port 5905. Normally your firewall will pop out a window to ask you when gbridge desktopshare server (gbwinvnc.exe) starts, please select "always allow". This is a very critical step.
- on the other computer, log in gbridge use the same username, then click the icon of your first computer in the tree in the "friends" tab, and select the meun "Access my Gbridge DesktopShare", and type the password you set in previous step. A firewall warning message may popup, please select "allow".
- Done!
----- If you want to use the microsoft remote desktop
- the machine you want to control must run xp pro or vista ultimate or vista business
- on the machine you want to control, click the DesktopShare icon on the toolbar, and select "Configure Microsoft Remote Desktop".
- in the dialog, check the checkbox "enable access to microsoft windows remote desktop ...", and click ok.
- gbridge will bring up the "system properties" dialog if you allow. check "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer", and select ok. Window will configure the the microsoft firewall automatically, but you may need to configure 3rd party firewall if you are using one (add port tcp 3389)
- on the other computer, on the other computer, log in gbridge use the same username, then click the icon of your first computer, and select the meun "Access windows remote desktop". A login diag will pop up, input the windows (NOT gbridge!) username and password of the your first computer, and click ok. you MUST have the password setup in the first computer, i.e. if you setup an empty password for the user on computer a, RemoteDesktop won't work.

So I had originally tried all those steps. I retraced and started from scratch and the same thing happened. There isn't no option to connect to my own computer. You mention it is under the friends tab. Shouldn't it be under the my computers tab? I don't see any thing to connect to under the friends tab. I've tried two different usernames and had both them running on each machine to rule out a username error.
Thanks for your support.

in the tree within the "friends tab" (please click http://gbridge.com/screenshots.php#friends_tab ), under "My computers" icon, you should see icons represents all the computers you log in using the same username.
In this case represent by the screenshot that was taken on "homepc", click the "laptop" icon, it should popup a menu, the 3rd menu item is "Access my gbridge desktopshare", after provide the right password, you should be able to control the "laptop" from the "homepc"
Let us know if you cannot see the two computer icons or you cannot find the menu item. Thanks!

In chat I see desktopshare is greyed out, test was ok. I am running FIOS with DMZ host set to my IP, Zone Alarm is set with all gb* allowed.
Not sure on advanced settings?

Are you trying to invite your friend to view/control your desktop?
You need to establish a chat session with your friend. Your friend need to at least send you one chat message so gbridge can know which computer to send the invitation (because your friend can have several computers).
If you are trying to access your own computer it is different procedure.
