It would be great if we could install Gbridge as a Windows service, so that it would start when the computer starts, not when a user logs in.

...a Windows service would let me reboot my work computer (for security reasons) at the end of the day....and still have access later on from home.

I run my PC under two user accounts -- one I use for most things and another I use for software development. I want to share normally, but when in development mode, I don't -- or I may want to use a different gAccount to share with on the second config. Same on my laptop.

I agree, should be optional, but i would personally love to have it as a service!

Yes - I came to the forum looking to see if this was possible. Right now it's in my "startup" folder, so the program pops up, but it would be great just to have it in the background - I just let my GoToMYPC expire since Gbridge works so well.

Couldn't you use "srvany.exe" or similar to launch GBridge as a service when Windows start ?
You may google to find about srvany.

[disclaimer : it may or may not work with GBridge. I didn't try it, as I have no need for GBridge running as a service.]

I Can start gparted as service using srvany, but it works only if "Allow service to interact the desktop" checkbox is enabled (Service properties window, Log on tab), in other case the service was started, but host is not available.
Can anybody help me to resolve this problem?
Thanks.

Yes, most of us use Gbridge for remote needs, as pc anywhere, so we all need this option.

Being able to run Gbridge as a service would be of great help! I am having a PC off-site running Gbridge and which serves to make off-site-backups. The PC is booting on a scheduled time, and is supposed to start syncing at a certain time to get important folders and files out of the Office. But as I cannot run Gbridge as a service, I will always have to manually log in to this off-site computer in order for the syncronization to take place! Is there an E.T.A for this feature yet?

I was just adviced to use either, FireDaemon, http://www.firedaemon.com/firedaemon-pro.php
or
SRVANY.EXE
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/137890
http://www.iopus.com/guides/srvany.htm

Well, unfortunately, after having tried several times with FireDaemon and Gbridge in order to have Gbridge run as a service (so that I do not have to log in to have Gbridge autosync), the people at FireDaemon has concluded, after having played with Gbridge for a while, that this cannot be done under Windows 7 with FireDaemon. It seems that I will have to resort to turning on the auto-logon-feature until Gbridge is capable of running as a service. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Turn-on-automatic-logon
This is indeed one of the few missing- blocking- things, as it is already an old request, is there any chance we can expect this feature shortly?

Maybe modify the programme enough so that I can let FireDaemon, and similar software, do the service-running, in the meantime? But that might be equally complex to accomplish??? But, as many already have said, is this already in the pipeline and something we can expect in the NEAR future?

Does anyone manage to make it work using srvany.exe?
Thanks!

Just adding my vote to this - it would an extremely useful feature for me. At the moment I have to leave a remote desktop server session running and hope that none of the other users logs it off.

Has anyone made gbridge start as a service successfully? I tried firedaemon lite and it starts - I can see the process, but the host does not show up. I set it to interact with desktop, run as administrator and even set it to my local user account, no difference.
Gbridge is a great program, but for it to be a viable option for our business, it would have to be able to run as a service on server 2008. Do it!
