View Full Version : "Fair Network Connectivity" - How to Improve - Port Forwarding only?

Hi everyone,

Note: If any replies/tips please make them 'explicitly clear' as i will get lost in overly technical terms or settings okay?

i've installed the latest version (2.0.0.1353) on three machines (one Vista Ultimate 64-bit (wireless) and two XP Professional 32-bit (one ethernet and one wireless), and the best i can get is "Fair Network Connectivity".

These machines all run through a DSL modem supplied by ATT and a Trendnet TEW-432BRP wireless router (with UPnP enabled).

All three installations are set to 'Automatic' and 'Use UPNP' in the Advanced Options, though i've tried it with the UPNP box both checked and unchecked.

i really prefer not to try and set up Port Forwarding as this is just a simple home network where guests occasionally come and go with various laptops and i don't want to assign IP addresses every time of course. And i've never done such things before either.

As it is the performance is so poor that the remote desktop feature either lags way behind, stalls for indeterminate periods, or disconnects (or fails to connect) entirely. Everyone seems to love Gbridge and i would like to love it too.

Is there something simple that i'm missing? Please help if you have any ideas...and thanks for your assistance!

Cheers,

bondbeau

It is strange. Do you have firewall installed with very strict firewall rules enabled(e.g no udp packet allowed)?

Can you send the debug log to support @ gbridge.com?

Click log tab, right click the log window, and select 'open log file directory'. Please send us Gb_error_0.txt and Gb_error_1.txt.

Dear Admin...thanks so much for your reply!

I've sent the 2 log files you asked for.

To my knowledge, there are no unusual firewall rules. I've never chosen any firewall rules other than what Vista sets on its own, and there are no other firewalls/added rules installed from other sources of which I am aware.

Looking forward to your further assistance...

Cheers,

Checked your log files. Seems that your Trendnet TEW-432BRP is not nat friendly. Although Gbridge relays the traffic in your case so you can still have fair connectivity, to get the best performance, you may have to do port forwarding or use a different router. Sorry.

Okay...I called Trendnet and they assured me it is "NAT friendly", and the documentation says it is, but i am not knowledgeable enough to know what changes need to be made, or if they can be.

Can you please offer additional help, or provide a list of compatible routers that meet the requirements?

Thanks so much...
