I just installed GBridge today and I am really excited.

It is installed on my work computer and my home computer. I have successfully linked them to my gmail account and both computers show up in the friends section.

I can add secure shares to both and the folders for the secure shares show up on both computers.

However I cannot access the files on my home computer or control it via Desktop share. When I try and browse the secure share I get a Network Time Out in my browser and when I try and do the DesktopShare the connection trys but never happens.

When I do the self-test on my home computer I get an error message that says it cannot connect to the server.

I can access everything on my Work computer from my home.

I am running WinXP Pro with the latest updates on both machines.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Likely Gbridge program is blocked by the firewall on your home machine. Please configure your firewall to allow Gbridge to accept incoming connections. Which firewall you are using?

Thanks for using Gbridge!

The only firewall I'm using is the default windows firewall and gbridge and vnc viewer are on the exceptions list.

I am using a router but I don't have anything unusual turned on.

I can access it with other vnc software like Logmein and Hamachi with no special tweaking.

You can access your work machine from your home machine, that means the vpn tunnel is establish successfully.

On your home machine, can you access the local SecureShare?

Have you tried to reboot your home machine? (Gbridge should work without reboot, but ...)

I cannot access the local SecureShare from my home machine.

I rebooted to no avail.

FYI- Other similar services like Foldershare and Dropbox work ok.

Can you temparorily disable windows firewall and retry? Please also make sure that there is no other firewall runing on your home computer. Thanks!

Any difference between your work computer and home computer? Becuase you cannot even access the local secureshare, it is not external network problem.

Just went back into the Windows Firewall settings and noticed that the checkbox "Don't allow exceptions" was checked. Doh.

Things seem to be working now.

Thanks.

Glad to know that you find the cause of the problem!
