Are Google Apps accounts currently supported? Are there any plans to support it? For example, my domain is wisesoul.org and is hosted by Google Apps and my Google Apps account would be george@wisesoul.org.
I've tried my Google Apps account and do not get anything back but Authentication errors.
Thanks.

Currently only Google account is supported. We need do some research about how to use Google Apps account and what kind of benefit it can bring to the user.
It is a very interesting question. Frankly we never thought about it. Thanks for raising it!

Any update on support for Google Apps accounts? I am in the same situation with a G-apps account, but cannot try this product if it is not supported. Thanks.

This product is well worth trying with a regular Google account! Personally I would be able to make greater use of the features with Google Apps support. Thanks for considering it. I'll keep an eye out.
p.s. Feel free to contact me as itpro@wisesoul.org if you'd like someone to test :D

I'm also hoping Google Apps for your Domain support will come as well, I suppose it shouldn't be too hard considering GAFYD also has Google Talk support; the only real difference is that you'll have to enter your full email addy instead of the username.

It would be very handy for some of us if we could set up Gbridge to use our Google Apps account.
Love the app.

Thanks for the great app. I can see some definite uses in our organization, but we use Google Apps, which works for GTalk, and not everyone has a gmail account.

Sorry, the custom gmail account is not supported for now, but you can always get a free gmail account as work around.

Guys, this is an awesome app...here's why you need gmail for domains support:
An office, like mine, that runs on GMail would have a single internal dashboard for chat, remote control, etc. and it would make my job as a LAN admin way easier.

I agree with this 110%. I want to use Gbridge in the non-profit I work for.
It's not practical to set up a bunch of Gmail accounts that will never be used, however we already have Google apps.
My life would be made so much easier.

It would be wonderful if we could use gbridge with our google apps account. I'm sure there are lots of us out there in need of an app like this for our organizations.

Got the message, will be the 2nd priority feature after the x64.

I'll glom onto this one...if it were apps-aware, we'd probably drop FolderShare in a heartbeat. The addition of VNC makes it a pretty strong product...and everyone who works for us has an apps-hosted email address, so it's a no-brainer!

oh man, I thought the vnc feature was cool. If you could link this to our apps accounts that would be out of this world!

+1 for the Google Apps support - I'd use it in a heartbeat if it was there.

I'm the network admin for a small company (25 users). We are using google apps for our email. I tried to enter my email address in the field but it doesn't work.
If this could only work for google apps it would be AMAZING!!!
GBridge thank you so much for developing such a wonderful FREE product!!!

We have a question for people who want the Google App support. Once Gbridge has this function, how to prompt it? How did you know the Google app at the first place? Frankly we thought not many people are using or even aware of the exsitence of Google app.

What I have found about Google Apps for our Domain is that only login name is different if you use it. Servers and ports are always the same, for configuring local software (outlook, pidgin, etc...). So SomeService.google.com or SomeService.gmail.com is still used in configuration data, only difference is that I need to provide username@MyDomain.com instead of username@gmail.com.
Solution, seems to be, is to allow us to type in our full username (including @MyDomain.com) and still relay us to same google servers for services.
That is if there isn't some heavy custom coding involved, but it shouldn't be cause if I'm getting it right App uses gTalk for basic network broadcasting and discovery services, and then tries to create p2p connections when connection is needed.

We are working on this right now. May need 2 to 3 weeks before the first beta. We plan to add some domain specific rules configuration as well.

If I understand your question, you are wanting to know how to prompt users to use the Google Apps features vs. a regular gmail account? I don't think there needs to be any additional prompts to use the Google Apps, just give us the option to put in our Google Apps email address user@domain.com for the user ID. I know this is how it works for the Google Talk client. If no domain is entered, then you can assume it is gmail.com.
As far as how we found out about Google Apps, I can only speak for myself, but I know Google is pushing Apps pretty heavily to the education market, which is what I'm in.
If you need people to test any of the new features, I'd be happy to help out.

I would also welcome Google Apps integration - the combination of VPN, file sharing and automated backup and synchronization is a beautiful idea.
This would not only allow for easier remote support for my users, but would ease document sharing among us. We're using FolderShare right now, but it has issues.
Thanks for the great work!

Sorry for the new post, but I couldn't edit the original.
I was looking for a hosted email solution for my small company (5 employees) and discovered Google Apps. It's infinitely more affordable than a hosted exchanged environment, and has very good uptime (though that's been an issue a few times).
The integration with Calendar, Docs and GTalk made the decision a no-brainer for us.

Glad to know that Gbridge can help you once it supports google app account.
btw, what are the issues that bother you the most when you use foldershare? Thanks!

btw, what are the issues that bother you the most when you use foldershare? Thanks!
Since Microsoft took over the service there seems to be a lot more file conflicts than I ever had. I've been sharing a few spreadsheets with a co-worker, and every morning I come in and see a new file in the folder with a name like "spreadsheet (1) jimmyjohn owner on 3kcek3id.xls". Every time someone makes a change to the file, a new one is created and it's driving me nuts!
Also, the service seems to go down more often now.
I've been playing with Dropbox, and really like that except for the fact that you can't define a "custom" dropbox. It seems like the synching you offer in Gbridge accomplishes this.

Just wanted to add myself to the list of people waiting for Google Apps support. It seems silly to have to open an email account that I won't use for email just to use this seemingly very handy application. Any more word on a beta yet?
Thanks for the great work on the existing product.
Also, I reallize you're focusing on the current product and I've seen the other threads in the feature requests so I'll probably add myself to that list but I'm a Linux user as well and it would be nice if I could use gbridge to talk between my Windows desktops/servers and my Linux laptop.

I can imagine some of the unexpected complications involved in supporting Google Apps users. There is your subdomain naming convention which can be handled a few different ways, but the main thing I see is the conflict between a Google Apps admin wanting their entire domain to be their network and the existing concept which bases that on an individual user. To do something domain-wide you have to somehow authenticate that the requestor is an admin of the domain. In the end, you probably have to offer it both ways to satisfy the various needs that exist. Google validates domain admins by directing them to make specific entries in the routing table for their domain.
Anyway, thank you for your efforts. They are greatly appreciated and the results are much anticipated.
