View Full Version : Disable Chat

As I'm constantly logged on to my Google Apps account when I use GBridge, the chat window that pops up whenever someone starts a chat is redundant. In addition it steals the focus from any other application that I happen to be using at that time, making me type into the GBridge chat window and potentially send an unintended chat message... :( I can't seem to find any way to disable the function, though.

I agree that disabling chat is a must-have feature.

in Chat options, you can check "Ignore all unsolicited incoming messages", which will effectively disable chat.

checking this option made my pidgin not recieving messages too, and disabling broadcast chats mde no difference, chats still appear in gbridge. but i need my chats on the same pc but in pidgin, setting low priority in gbridge is not helping.

Ditto... I use Pidgin and strongly prefer it for Chat, though wish to stay logged into GBridge for VPN and VNC.
I am testing the "Ignore unsolicited" option, but it doesn't sound like that is quite the desired functionality.
Is there an updated thread on this?
Thank-you!

Hello,
I've been using gbridge for several months now, and I'm very happy with it. The only problem I have is that I'm always connected to google chat. In fact, I'm not willing to let others people know that any of my computers is on, and that they can leave messages on my screens.. And plus, it leaves the impression that I'm always in front of my screen.. Which is not very far from the thruth I know.. but hey, I still have a réputation ! :)
I know I can choose to "ignore incoming messages", but in that case, I loose messages from friends who pick up chats instaed of emails to communicate.
So, in a word, I would be totally happy with an option like "disable chat in Gbridge".
thx again,
Mathieu

I found a solution.. But I think you developpers won't like it.
I can log in Gbridge through another gmail account.. And the status of my main gmail account won't be modified by gbridge.
thx in advance.
