Hi to all!

First congratulations to developers of Gbridge for useful software... an excuse me for my bad english...

I would know what kind of software are on the server side of Gbridge network. I am very interested in the udp hole punching technique for a project i've in my mind... I think Gbridge use that technique (or similar) to establish direct connect between peers. I'm wrong? There is a demo or a piece of free software wich I can study?

Tanks to all!

Gbridge uses Google's Gtalk server as authentication server. Gbridge uses its own proprietary network environment detection server, and has its proprietary way to establish connection behind NAT/firewall (UDP hole punching is just a part of it) to achieve the highest direct-connect ratio.

For the UDP hole punching technology, you can start with this link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UDP_hole_punching, not sure about any open source code available. Maybe you can check out freenet.

Actually, as an VPN infrastructure, Gbridge is providing IP layer compatibility, maybe you can run your application on top of Gbridge without worry about UDP hole punching? :-) I don't want to scare you away, but there are so many things to worry about and so many weird routers, especially if you want to take advantage of UPNP as well.

Good Luck!

Server-side refers to operations that are performed by the server in a client–server relationship in computer networking.

Typically, a server is a software program, such as a web server, that runs on a remote server, reachable from a user's local computer or workstation. Operations may be performed server-side because they require access to information or functionality that is not available on the client, or require typical behavior that is unreliable when it is done client-side.
