View Full Version : Another Installation issue
Hello all,
I came across GBridge from Lifehacker and I must say that it is an impressive idea!
I seem to have trouble to get it installing though. I installed it without any problems on my 64-bit vista laptop. When I tried installing the same on a 32-bit xp machine (I did this by remote desktop from another laptop which had a cisco vpn client) it showed me the command prompt window (GBridgeInstallHelper.exe) and it stayed there for more than 20 minutes before I manually closed it.
Any solutions/workarounds for this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated..
Thanks,
Sandeep
I tried running the installation again and it got stuck again at the same stage. However, when I closed it this time, the command prompt window came up again and it successfully completed installation!
But, now, after installing and logging into GBridge on the same gmail account, it says due to firewall issues it can only connect using a relay (or something to that effect).
And when I tried connecting to the computer using the DesktopShare, it tried connecting.. and within a couple of seconds gave me an error dialog that said "WriteExact: Socket error while writing". The box was titled "Ultr@VNC Info".
Any suggestions on getting this working?
(The computer I was trying to access is my lab computer, part of the university network. I am a grad student)

sorry for the trouble.
What is your windows version and gbridge version? Do you have any firewall installed locally?

Hello,
I am running Windows Vista 64-bit (Home premium). And, I am using the latest version of GBridge available on the website. (1.0.0.1193).
I just checked the whole process again. GBridge still does not connect to the remote computer using VNC but it says "Excellent network connectivity". When I access the remote computer using VNC, it now shows "Failed to connect to server!".
I am however able to access my remote computer using windows remote desktop.. so, I am, as of now, not very worried! :)
Any tips/suggestions on making the connection work faster? (or rather, of reducing the time lag between say, the physical clicking and the remote computer recognizing the click)
Thanks!

I have the same problem, except mine is a Fair network connection. But an XP pc on the same network has no problems. A reinstallation didnt work, nor did running it as an Admin
