I set up Gbridge on my PCs at my office and home. When I connect with DesktopShare from home to my office PC I get a black screen. When I connect with Windows Remote Desktop through Gbridge it connects just fine.

Screen shot is attached.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Thanks for using Gbridge!

Because of security concern, the built-in vnc server is running as a normal process, not a service. As a result, if your remote pc screen is locked (need password to unlock, or vista UAC mode), you will only see a black screen if your are using vnc (i.e. DesktopShare). It is a limitation of the built-in vnc.

Microsoft Windows remote desktop doesn't have this problem and in most case it is faster than vnc.

That makes sense. Great product, by the way.

So, if VNC were running as a service, would it work then? And if so, how could I set that up?

Thanks,

Sorry, currently the built-in vnc cannot run as a service.

If you have installed native vnc as a service on your remote machine, you can tunnel the vnc traffic through Gbridge. To do that:
0. on the remote machine and control machine, install native vnc (real vnc, ultravnc or tightvnc), and configure correctly.
1. on the remote machine, click options icon, then select Advanced options menu.
2. in the "advanced network Configureation" dialog, in the "open to my other computers" group, check the "All other Traffic" checkbox. Note that once you check that checkbox, most of the network traffic will be allowed to be tunneled by gbridge. So do it at your own risk.
3. on the control machine, launch native vnc viewer and use the gbridge hostname of your remote machine, e.g. desktop.yourname.gbridge.net.

when you do a DesktopShare self-test on your office pc, do you see a black screen?

Yes. It shows a black screen for a few seconds.
Please advise.
