I have Gbridge loaded on two Vista Home Premium computers. On computer 2, I can see computer 1. When I try to access desktopshare, the password box pops up. I enter my password and the VNC status box appears. The password is accepted and the box disappears, but not desktop sharing takes place. Suggestions? The self-test has been successfully run on both machines.

Thanks.

Is your vista wallpaper has "on resume, display logon screen" checked? If so, please disable it and try.

Yes, I do have my computer set to require logon upon resume. That is how I secure my office computer when I leave it running. Are you telling me that Gbridge will not allow me to access my office computer unless I am willing to leave the computer running with no security logon required to access it?

Thanks for your response.

If you are running windows vista business in you office, you can solve this problem very easily by using the gbridge embeded microsoft remote desktop, which has much better performance and doesn't have the login screen issue.

Even if you are using vista primium, you are not completely out of luck. Some one has posted a work around here:

I am using Vista Home Premium, but the workaround did not do the trick for me. As a result, I do not think that Gbridge is the product for me. While it provides for online and wireless security, it does nothing for the physical security of the computer you are trying to access.

Thanks for your help.

At which step the work around failed? I just tried the work around and it works for me.

Not sure. It appeared to install just fine. However, I still cannot access my 'locked' computer remotely using gbridge.

what is the detail error sympton when you try to access your 'locked" computer's remote desktop? Note that to use microsoft remote desktop (which is different from gbridge desktopshare), you need to enable it on the computer you want to control:
1. click desktopshare icon in the toolbar
2. click "configure microsoft windows remote desktop" and follow instructions.

Also when you want to use the remote desktop, you need to select "access microsoft windows retmoe desktop on my" menu after you click the desktopshare icon.

After much jiggering with the remote desktop settings and firewall ports, I got the microsoft remote desktop to work. I will try to get gBridge going this weekend when I have more time. Thanks for your help.

I have GBridge installed on Vista Business and tried to use DesktopShare from other computer. The Vista machine screensaver doesn't have password protection. It seems that the VNC passed the authentication stage and brought up the screen. But once it loaded all the screen, it closed itself automatically. I tried from two different computers (one behind firewall, one is not). Same thing happens. I can connect using standalone UltraVNC to the Vista machine perfectly.

Anyhelp here?

Thanks.

ggbal, I suggest you to use the gbridge embeded "microsoft remote desktop" instead of the gbridge "desktop share".

on your vista business:
1. click desktopshare icon in the gbridge toolbar
2. click "configure microsoft windows remote desktop" and follow instructions.
3. please note that you MUST specify a password for the vista account you want to remotely log in. unless you want to play some registry setting trick like:
(under adminstrative command line, type):
REG ADD "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa" /v LimitBlankPasswordUse /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

To access the remote desktop, you need to select "access microsoft windows retmoe desktop on my" menu after you click the desktopshare icon.

This is a great program but I am trying to use the windows remote desktop connection and it did not work. I get the error message below. It works when I use the windows remote desk top screen and just the computer name. The computer is on my local network and is running Win XP Pro. I also have the latest version of Gbridge. Any suggestions to what I can check or change?

Error: "This computer can't connect to the remote computer"

Please check your windows firewall setting.

If you are using windows firewall, here is what you need to do:
1. open control panel
2. click "windows firewall"
3. clicke exceptions tab
4. select and check "remote desktop", and click edit
5. check the "tcp 3389", and make sure the scope is "any", or you need to edit the scope. (gbridge network's scope is 10.239.0.1/255.255.0.0)

If you are using other firewall, you basically need to allow tcp 3389 to accept request from gbridge network's scope, which is 10.239.0.1/255.255.0.0.

Thanks that worked!
