Hello. I have been waiting for an application like this for a long time. I have installed Gbridge on 4 of my computers. I can see every computer from each computer, and their respective secureshares, however, only one will actually allow me to browse the other's files. the 3 others give me the DNS_HOST_NOT_FOUND error when I attempt to browse, or set up an auto sync.

Any help would be great. I am anxious to use Gbridge to it's full potential.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

is there any difference between the computer that works and other computer? windows version? any firewall?

on the computer that dones't work, please try this:
1. open a command prompt
2. type "ipconfig /all" and pm me the result.
3. type "ping this-machine-name.your-username.gbridge.net", and pm me the result.

On the machines that doens't work, was the browser configured any proxy?

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to analyze. Here is the ipconfig from my home computer, which is the only machine that is set up with a different user. (It is "friends" with all other computers and has full privileges....

The computer that is working is an XP Pro, two of the other machines are XP PRO, and one of the machines is Vista.

The machine that is working is connected directly to the internet, while the other three are behind a router. Obviously it seems like a router issue, but how do i fix it?

The only firwall that I am using is Windows Firewall, and it has been configured to allow Gbridge.

No Proxy present on any machine.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Looking at it, it is actually a 502 Bad Gateway error, with the message
Bad Gateway
The following error occurred:
[code=DNS_HOST_NOT_FOUND] The host name was not found during the DNS lookup. Contact your system administrator if the problem is not found by retrying the URL.

Please contact the administrator.

Thanks again

on the machine that has problem, can you visit the local secureshare? It seems that the error message is coming from a http proxy. Which browser you are using? Can you try another browser by copy the url over?

Hello. I wasn't able to view the local secureshares on the computers having problems, however, when I paste the URL for the share into Google Chrome, it works!

We are getting closer!

I look forward to your reply

Thanks!

if Chrome works but not your default browser, very likely your default browser is using a proxy. Does the computers have problem in a corperate network?

Nope, two of the three computers are on my home network. I'll check the third computer at work, to see about the Proxy .... For now, I have set Chrome to be my default browser, and it works great!

For everyone's benefit, I have figured this one out. In Internet explorer:
Tools>Internet Options>Connections Tab>LAN Settings button>Un-check Automatically detect settings checkbox.

This solved the problem, although, I think I like Chrome as my default browser now!

Thanks for your help! I look forward to the future potential of Gbridge.

Best regards,

Leigh

Thank you very much, Leigh! I am sure this will help lots of users!

Here is some information about the "automatically detec settings", seems your IEs were using some proxies silently :-)
