Difference between 'take latest copy' and 'keep local copy'

I am trying to setup a bi-direction sync where the last updated file is always sync'd back and forth between two computers.

Looking at the advanced options.. there is 'if local file is changed'

should I select 'take latest copy' or 'keep local copy' on each respective computer?

I cannot find the absolute definition in the faq.
